Charming New England Venue Perfect For Small Weddings
New England couples rejoice- we have stumbled upon Moore House, a family run business with a series of beautifully renovated properties that combines the comforts of home and the amenities of a hotel—only better. A few of their properties make for an idyllic backdrop for smaller, more customized wedding ceremonies. They feel more bespoke than an event space, as you will see from The Quonset Hut - the location for our next feature created and photographed by K. Engel Photography and coordinated by L .Cole Event + Design.
Kengel was struck by the beauty and power of the poem, "As Is The Sea Marvelous" by E. E. Cummings. His powerful words are the inspiration behind all these romantic wedding ideas. You're going to love the stunning flat lays, pampas grass backdrop, and the delicate blue and green wedding cake. Please scroll down, and become inspired by all this pretty.
Ocean Inspired Stationery
Stephanie of Black Tulip Calligraphy created this stunning ocean inspired wedding suite. The Quonset Hut was drawn as the cover art, but her gorgeous hand-lettering was the star of the show.
INSPIRATION BEHIND THE SHOOT
Below is the poem "As Is The Sea Marvelous," by E. E. Cummings. The inspiration behind this ocean inspired wedding shoot.
From K. Engel Photography - I was struck by the beauty and power of the last line, the idea that love sometimes has the same power as the waves, crashing over us. As I started to think about it more, the mention of earth and moons and stars made me think about the equinox and that pull between light and dark at this time of year, but especially during these uncertain times.
I wanted to create a shoot that felt inspired by the poem, without directly using celestial bodies or shapes. But instead to use color to pay tribute to the marvelousness of the ocean, which is always certain and the waves will always return, just like the hope we have right now for the future.
"as is the sea marvelous
from god’s
hands which sent her forth
to sleep upon the world
and the earth withers
the moon crumbles
one by one
stars flutter into dust
but the sea
does not change
and she goes forth out of hands and
she returns into hands
and is with sleep….
love,
the breaking
of your
soul
upon
my lips"
The vendor team and I dreamed up an intimate elopement feel: the idea of two travelers coming together in this place, with just their vows to hold on to. As soon as I saw the Quonset Hut by Moore House I knew it was the perfect location. The blue shingles felt like seaside New England and it's small, quaint nature felt perfect for hosting a romantic, yet intimate elopement.
I loved that the shape of the quonset hut was like a rising or setting sun - pulling on our equinox theme and that transition from dark to light. March in New England isn't always warm and trees feel more dead than alive, but you also know that beauty is coming so we drew inspiration from that for the tones and feel of the day. And wouldn't you know, despite nothing on the forecast, we had a brief little snow flurry as we shot. Such typical New England.
New England Wedding Floral Designer
The moment I saw this blue and white wedding bouquet I was awe-struck by how artfully arranged it was. I was also impressed how the silk ribbon perfectly matched the color palette of the bouquet. I really do love when floral designers do that. This sea-worthy wedding bouquet is designed by New England wedding florist, Bloom52. Their work is stunning.
New England Wedding Rentals
Your can rent this hexagon arbor backdrop (sans florals) from Refined Rentals. They also proved the chairs for the wicker chairs you see above at the ceremony, and the chic velvet and gold dining chairs at the wedding reception below. They even have a Peacock Chair for rent for your bridal shower.
Pretty, Pretty Bridal look
New England hair and makeup team, Salon Sapphire created the bride's polished yet relaxed bridal look. For the ceremony she had that gorg cathedral veil. For the wedding reception they took the veil off and created a softer look with this stunning clip from Hushed Commotion.
They also carry bridal masks that are safe, chic and stylish, and a lot of jewelry that I would wear daily, like these Falcon Earrings.

This effortlessly romantic wedding dress is from Everthine Bridal Boutique. A spaghetti strap wedding dress available in pebble or ivory. How dream is the Chantilly lace with eyelash lace edging? This beach wedding dress is known as the Joey Dress.

In fact, these sugar artists create the most amazing sculpted cakes. Carefully hand-carved into shapes covered in buttercream and fondant and then painted or decorated with edible food colors and decorations. You have to see the Channel Purse Wedding Cake. It's unreal.
